Filming in Rwanda with the Four Seasons Private Jet Experience as they toured the globe to capture this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
The Result
Trekking deep into the dense jungle of Virunga National Park presented a unique set of production challenges. With our ARRI Alexa Mini, lenses and supporting equipment carried by hand, we needed to be prepared for everything - long days of trekking, difficult terrain, unpredictable weather and no opportunity to recharge once we were in the field.
With only one chance to capture the experience, every detail had to be considered in advance, from battery management and equipment choices to keeping the camera package light enough to travel through demanding terrain without compromising the quality of the imagery.
Just as important was understanding that we were entering the gorillas’ environment. Our approach needed to be quiet, unobtrusive and respectful, working carefully to capture the intimacy of the encounter without disrupting the animals or the experience itself.
The resulting hero film and social edits brought audiences closer to this extraordinary journey, helping to build awareness and demand for the experience. Following the campaign, the trip sold out for the subsequent two years.
